John about the course:
In 1974 I spent 6 months in Poland and studied with Jerzy Grotowski at the Theatre Laboratory in Wroclaw.
Grotowski’s idea was that in theatre the actors would not show something, not act “as if”, but would embody, incarnate the human experience. The audience or spectators became witnesses of the humanity of the actors. Later he used expressions such as incarnate, with the witnesses becoming celebrants at a sacred mystery of life.
He worked with the members of the troupe to rigorously strip away all habits, social and conventional expressions, masks, until what was left was their visible energetic essence. Until their energy and energy body became visible. Until their energy was able to spontaneously respond directly to each other without being filtered through the mind.
In tantra our journey is similar. We seek to embody our spirit, to be incarnations of our highest energetic potential as god and goddess, to liberate our energy and aliveness from structures of character and tension so it flow freely into expression. To move from doing into being.
In this group we will use some of Grotowski’s techniques to confront ourselves with our habits and patterns, to experience and trust our energy and to follow it. To be ourselves in our integrity, in our energy, in our truth, instead of acting out our egos and self concepts.
You don’t need any theatre experience, just the desire and the courage to be true, to stalk those moment of truth. To have the courage to confront the many masks as we stalk our energetic truth. The others will be our heartful mirrors, celebrating our moments of being, of stillness, when our forms disappear in a blaze of light, when we are all touched by truth.
Tantra and theatre
The tuition fees for this course are £190. In addition there will be a payment of £100 for food, accommodation and transport from Prague. Please make your payment for the fees (£190) using the bank details below and bring the food and accommodation payment to the Centre in cash to pay when you arrive.
