Shamanic pilgrimage across Ecuador

A description of the journey:

The group takes place 15.1.2015-13.2. 2015,starting in Quito, the capital taking in wonderful views of the volcanoes Cotopaxi (5897m), Ilinizu Norte (5126m) and Pichincha (4776m). We will visit the historic centre with its square Plaza Grande, take a cable lift  to the top of Cruz Loma (4100 m), part of the volcano Pichincha, with fascinating views of the city and the surrounding area. We will cross the Equator at the Mitad del Mundo and visit the town of Otavalo, a market with its handcrafted products, moving along the Pan-American Highway and swimming in the thermal springs in the spa Baňos, see the Tungurahua smoking volcanoes (5023M) and also have the possibility of night observation of Sangay volcanic eruptions.

Moving to the plateau we will visit the city of Latacunga, take a walk to the Emerald Lake and Quilotoa hideaway overlooking the volcano, Los Ilinizas, then move into the lowlands of Western Ecuador on the Pacific coast to the fishing village of Puerto Lopez.

Furthermore, we will visit the NP Machallila and swim on the beach Playa los Frailes, take a visit to the native American community of Agua Blanca (remains of the ancient culture of the Manta), possibly swim in the sulphur pond in dry tropical forest, take a trip to the magical island of Isla de la Plata (small Galapagos), and observe birds nests  - terejs blue , fregats, pelicans ...

Then, in the South of Ecuador, we will visit  the city of Cuenca. This is the third largest city and the capital of the Ecuadorian province of Azuay. The historic centre of the town is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Vilkabamba, a town in a historic and scenic valley, lies 48 km to the south of the city of Loja, and is one of the most pleasant places for a couple of days rest when travelling in Ecuador. This is a relatively small town, actually, only a few streets around the square, but it is quite a popular place for quiet relaxation. Ingapirca (3230 m) has the most famous and the most visited archaeological site in Ecuador. These Inca ruins  are 1 km from the village to the North of Cuency. You will discover here some of the glory of the Inca Empire.
