The Summer Solstice marks the year’s zenith, the time when the sun is highest in the sky and the natural world is bursting with life and energy. On this longest day of the year, it is time to step into our own light, to stand in the strength of our own power and authority and claim our right to pleasure and abundance.
In contrast, the shortest night of the year is full of magic and mischief. It is a time of masks and merry-making and sexual adventure. To add to the confusion, on this night the door between our world and the world of faery is wide open, and, as in Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, the little people often intervene, with unexpected results…
The summer solstice is marked most famously at Stonehenge: we have our own stone circle in our centre, to help hold the energies of celebration and magic.
John has great pleasure in introducing to the Czech Republic Robert Osborn and Marta Emmitt, his former students, organisers and now dear friends, who run the successful Celtic Tantra in the UK. They have for many years led beautiful celebrations of the eight celtic festivals throughout the circle of the year. Days of exciting creativity are guaranteed to take us high and to take us deep into the midsummer madness.
